Unionville is an active renovation area. Older homes throughout the community are being updated by new owners — kitchens, bathrooms, flooring, additions — and the debris that comes out of those projects has to go somewhere. If you've just finished a renovation or are in the middle of one, here's what you need to know about getting rid of the material efficiently and at a fair price.
Light Debris vs. Dense Debris: Why It Matters
Not all renovation debris is priced the same way, and understanding the difference can save you money and prevent surprises on the day of pickup.
Light debris includes drywall scraps, trim pieces, wood framing, cabinetry, old fixtures, flooring, carpet, insulation, packaging, and general construction waste. This material takes up volume but doesn't weigh very much relative to how much space it fills. We price light debris by volume — how much of our 17-cubic-yard truck it takes up.
Dense debris includes concrete, brick, stone, tile (especially floor tile with mortar), dirt, gravel, and roofing shingles. This material is extremely heavy. A pile that looks like a quarter truck of volume can weigh as much as a full truck of furniture. Disposal facilities charge by weight for this material, so we price it by weight rather than volume to keep things accurate and fair.
What We Haul from Renovation Jobs
After a typical home renovation, we handle:
- Drywall and plaster debris from wall and ceiling removals
- Old cabinetry — kitchen cabinets, bathroom vanities, built-ins
- Flooring — hardwood, laminate, vinyl, carpet and padding
- Tile and mortar (priced by weight)
- Old fixtures — sinks, toilets, tubs, shower pans
- Lumber, trim, and framing scraps
- Roofing shingles and underlayment (priced by weight)
- Concrete and masonry (priced by weight)
- Insulation
- Windows and doors
- Packaging materials — cardboard boxes, foam, wrap
What Requires Specialty Disposal
A few renovation materials fall outside what we can haul and require separate handling:
- Asbestos-containing materials — older homes in Unionville may have asbestos in floor tiles, pipe insulation, or textured ceiling coatings. Any material suspected to contain asbestos must be tested and removed by a licensed abatement contractor before we can haul it.
- Lead paint debris — if you're disturbing surfaces with lead paint, there are specific disposal requirements. Check with your contractor about proper containment and disposal.
- Hazardous liquids — paint, stain, adhesives, and solvents in liquid form are household hazardous waste and can't go in our truck. Union County has periodic hazardous waste collection events for these materials.
Dry, empty paint cans are generally fine. Fully dried paint in cans is also typically accepted at standard disposal facilities. When in doubt, ask us before we arrive.
Coordinating Around Contractor Timelines
Renovation debris removal works best when it's planned as part of the project, not an afterthought. A few practical notes:
If your contractor is generating debris over multiple days or weeks, consider scheduling a mid-project haul rather than waiting until the end. Debris piling up in the driveway or garage can create access issues and slow down the rest of the work.
Talk to your contractor about where they want debris staged before we arrive. Most contractors are used to working with junk removal companies and will stage material in an accessible spot — driveway, garage, or outside the work area. This makes the pickup faster and minimizes disruption to active work areas.
Same-day and next-day appointments are frequently available. If your contractor finishes a demo phase and you need the debris gone quickly, text us a photo of the pile to (980) 446-2900 and we'll tell you if we can get there the same day.
Pricing for Renovation Jobs in Unionville
Standard volume-based pricing: minimum $99, up to $699 for a full 17-cubic-yard truck. Most single-room renovation cleanouts (kitchen demo, bathroom gut, bedroom flooring) run in the $249–$399 range. Larger multi-room projects or whole-house renovations may run higher.
Dense debris — concrete, brick, tile, shingles — is priced by weight and quoted separately. When you send a photo or describe the load, let us know if there's heavy material in the mix so we can price it accurately upfront.
